MH Adventures: Peak Health Switzerland
If you’ve been longing for a week of idyllic alpine rejuvenation since The Grand Budapest Hotel, the new Peak Health retreat offering at the Capra hotel – running from August – should be a serious contender for your summer sojourn.
Located in the resort village of Saas-Fee near the Italian border, the programme promises a “360-degree wellbeing transformation”. Which, in plain parlance, means you’ll sleep better, feel better and look better when you get home.
What's the pull? Yes, it’s a swanky wellness resort. Yes, it’s nestled in suitably scenic environs. What makes it different is its unique body assessment to help you understand your hormone, functional and metabolic profiles. Addressing these imbalances restores gut imbalances, helping to regulate everything from blood sugar levels, to sleep quality and digestion.
Where to stay: For the cosiness of chalet living combined with the comforts of a luxury resort, look no further than the 5 star Capra hotel. Sign up to the Peak Health escape and you’ll get your own suite, complete with unparalleled vistas. Panoramic views of snow-frosted peaks? Check. Pristine vallies and wide-open skies? Check. Best of all, there’s a couple’s package too.
Where to eat: Breakfasts will be served at The Capra’s sunny terrace, while breakfasts and dinners will be enjoyed in the hotel’s award winning restaurant. The spotlight is on local, quality ingredients cooked with delicate precision and imaginative flair.
The programme: The schedule for your week-long stay will be handed out on day one, so there aren’t any surprises. Not that there’s anything to baulk at in a programme of targeted strength training sessions, daily hikes around one of Saas-Fee’s 13 peaks, including intervals and altitude training. Afternoons include medical massages, recovery workouts and free access to the spa before dinner. Which sounds like our kind of getaway.
The dealmaker: This is no alpine escape followed by a crash back to reality and unhealthy habits upon your return home. No, not only is the course designed to engineer long-term overhauls to healthy, happiness and fitness, but it begins before you’ve even packed your bags. The standard package includes a pre-retreat health, nutrition and lifestyle assessment course, meaning you can spend more time actually doing what you want to when you arrive.
